* Describe your first student teaching context (school setting). What school are you at, what are some of its characteristics, and what classes are you teaching, and how are classes scheduled at your school?

My first student teaching context happens to be at Curtis Corner Middle school, one of two middle schools of the South Kingstown school district. This school is from a fairly wealthy community, according to informationworks! only about 9% of the district is eligible for subsidized lunch programs, and the dropout rate is incredibly low for Rhode Island, being approximately 6% compared to the state's 15%.
Currently, I am working with Kevin Poirer on Team Barracuda, teaching both seventh and eighth grade. Seventh grade science at Curtis Corner is life science, and eighth grade is physical science. I will be starting off teaching seventh grade, and then eventually moving up to the eighth grade.
The school itself is on a 45-minute period, six period per day - ten day schedule, (not including lunch) where the students have a rotation of "specials" (such as music, P.E., art, etc.) while the teachers have planning and team time blocks.

* Explain one of your "stealth" objectives that you want to accomplish with your students and why.

One of my "stealth" objectives is instilling a love of science into all students. I find that, more often than not- science is discouraging, difficult, boring, and beyond their reach. In my eyes, science is not beyond anyone. I noticed however, there are too many teachers who take away the wonder of science. As you well know, it really is an amazing branch of study, and too many teachers are too capable of neutering this wonder in students.
